All India Quota (AIQ) refers to 15% of seats in government medical colleges that are set aside for candidates from anywhere in India, regardless of their home state. AIQ counselling is conducted centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services.
AIQ also includes seats in central universities, deemed universities, and institutions like AIIMS and JIPMER (through their own separate processes, in some cases). Because eligibility isn't tied to domicile, AIQ is often the first counselling round students track closely, since it opens up options beyond their home state.
